Tom Czyz - Founder Of One Training
On December 14, 2012, 20 first graders and 6 adults were tragically murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary. As a father, husband, active shooter expert, SWAT operator, and homicide detective, Tom Czyz realized he couldn’t protect his own family.
Determined to safeguard America’s schools, he founded Armoured ONE and ONE Training with the mission to end the threat of active shooters.
The active assailant training for school staff provided by these organizations is meticulously crafted, recognizing that over 80% of the time, the shooter is a student or former student. The training offers options-based strategies that exceed the federal guidelines of “Run, Hide, Fight,” by incorporating the enhanced strategy of “Barricade.” This approach is grounded in data and analytics from over 50 years of school shootings, enabling the provision of the most effective strategies to maximize safety and save lives during these critical incidents.
Tom is nationally and internationally recognized for his expertise in active shooter scenarios, school security, and motivational speaking, featured by major media outlets. He is also the author of “Staying One Step Ahead: Ending the Story of Active Shooter in America’s Schools,” published by Forbes Books.
Additionally, Tom has assembled top experts from SWAT, military special forces, federal agencies, and school staff to save lives. Since then, his team has responded to over sixty K-12 school shootings, including Sandy Hook, Parkland, Santa Fe, Uvalde, Newport News, and Nashville.

How Our Training Saved Lives During An Attack In 2015
In 2015, a former student carried out an attack at one of the schools we had provided training for. However, due to the physical security enhancements and the staff's swift implementation of their training, no lives were lost, and no innocent individuals were injured. The assailant roamed the premises for approximately 8 minutes before law enforcement arrived and apprehended him at gunpoint. Promptly responding by initiating a lockdown and following the Run, Hide, Barricade, Fight protocol as taught, the staff demonstrated preparedness, ensuring the attacker could not reach any victims. This incident vividly underscored the effectiveness and significance of our training program.

Why Do We Do What We Do
Our “why” is a safe return home. Just like you, we are parents, siblings, aunts and uncles. We are also trusted leaders, subject matter experts, and protectors. When we leave for work in the morning, it is our duty to return home safely to our loved ones. We don’t expect to transform our trainees into specially trained law enforcement officers. We do, however, expect to aid America’s leadership in equipping their staff with battle-tested programs and practice designed to provide reliable methods on how to react during an active shooter attack.
Our mission is to save as many lives as possible during deadly attacks, such as an active shooter situation, by providing real-world solutions and training.
